This One Is Sappy

15 Jul

I didn’t (and still don’t, really) intend for HJR to be all that personal. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the epic event that’s going to occur this evening.

But, first things first.

Once upon a time at a place called Ohio University, two pals from high school, one home-schooled chick and one possibly robotic goofball happened to become very good pals. They found that they had a lot in common, including – but not limited to – obscure pop culture knowledge, a disdain for Doritos (we agreed on this, right guys?), a love for theme parties and the tremendous ability to pre-game with popped bottles of gas-station champagne.

Life being life has pushed us in all sorts of directions, some good, some bad, and some “gweat.” And I honestly can’t remember the last time the four of us have been in the same city at the same time (but I believe it was in 2010).

Now I’m back in Columbus with Mar, and Stef’s back in the States (and in OH for at least a couple more weeks), but our dearest Dondo is making her way to Jacksonville, Fla., to continue doing what she does best: mold young minds.

I am so thrilled for her – and proud of her – for the work she’s been doing, shaping the lives of kids in the U.S. and beyond (after all, if she doesn’t teach kids to appreciate literature via the wise words of Lil Weez, who will?!) And I am overjoyed that the four of us Shambos will be finally be reuniting tonight.

Note: I am totally ignoring my ego by posting the above image to the web. Memories!
